The absence of Moroccan star Soufiane Rahimi from the final list for the 2024 CAF African Player of the Year award has left Al Ain fans very disappointed. Rahimi, who has been very important for the Emirati club, was not included in the list of five players, which has Achraf Hakimi (Paris Saint-Germain), Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund), Ademola Lookman (Atalanta), Simon Adingra (Brighton), and Ronwen Williams (Mamelodi Sundowns).
To show their support, Al Ain FC posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying they stand behind Rahimi: “Real success is having the love and support of your fans. You are always the best in our hearts, Soufiane.”
Al-Zaeem fans responded to the club’s sentiments, flooding social media with messages of support. “Best Arab player of 2024 without a doubt,” said one user, while another said: “Soufiane, you don’t need their awards.” They know who you are.
Rahimi continues to be admired by many fan bases for his contributions on and off the pitch. “It’s not just Al Ain fans who love you; Al Nassr fans support you too,” said one fan. “You are bigger than any award, a magician of the pitch, a legend of legends,” another admirer praised.
Rahimi remains beloved in football despite his exclusion, and his skill and character are clear. His fans confirm their enthusiasm for the Moroccan star, who they truly feel is worth more than any accolade.
