Al Ahly Star Falls Victim to Major Fraud, Loses Millions in Deal Gone Wrong
Al Ahly's Mohamed Magdy "Afsha" has been the victim of a large-scale fraud, losing 13 million Egyptian pounds in a botched car import deal. The player filed an official complaint with Cairo’s First Settlement Police after handing the sum to a real estate businessman who promised to import a luxury car for him. However, the businessman failed to deliver the vehicle and has been unresponsive, prompting Afsha to seek legal action.
After a police inquiry, the businessman, who runs a well-known development company, was taken into custody. They're questioning him now. Afsha, who joined Al Ahly in 2019, expressed his frustration with the circumstance, saying it has impacted his recent play.
Much attention has been paid to this issue, highlighting the necessity for authorities to safeguard citizens against financial frauds and the need of verifying whether large-scale transactions are legitimate. Afsha has yet to receive his money back, and the inquiry is still underway.
