Al Ahly have hit Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet with a 1 million EGP fine after the winger breached internal team rules during the 1-1 draw against Inter Miami in the Club World Cup opener.

Penalty Dispute Sparks Action

Despite not being among the designated penalty takers, Trezeguet stepped up and took the spot-kick meant for Wessam Abou Ali, with Ahmed “Zizo” Sayed next in line. The original fine of 500,000 EGP was doubled after President Mahmoud El Khatib consulted with sporting director Mohamed Youssef.

Leadership Under the Microscope

“As team captain, Trezeguet is expected to lead by example and respect the technical decisions,” a club source told Kooora.

The 29-year-old has reportedly accepted the punishment and delivered a formal apology to both his teammates and the coaching staff.

Al Ahly's severe disciplinary action sends a strong message to all players: nobody is above the rules, particularly in competitions with big stakes like the FIFA Club World Cup.
