Al Ahly Sends a Strong Message with Dominant CAF Champions League Start

Al Ahly launched their CAF Champions League group-stage campaign with an impressive 4-2 victory over Côte d’Ivoire’s Stade d’Abidjan at Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday night.
Mahmoud “Kahraba” lit up the game early, scoring the opener in the 14th minute before Mohamed “Afsha” Magdy doubled the lead seven minutes later. Hussein El Shahat added a spectacular third in the 26th minute.
Stade d’Abidjan responded through a well-placed header by Kassoum Koné in the 30th minute, but Kahraba’s sensational bicycle kick in the 48th minute restored Al Ahly’s dominance. The visitors added a second goal via Roger Assalé in the 55th minute, but it wasn’t enough to change the game’s outcome.
Swiss coach Marcel Koller’s tactical mastery and an electric home crowd ensured Al Ahly topped Group C after the first round of matches. Despite missing Wisam Abou Ali due to injury and benching Imam Ashour, the team showcased depth and firepower.
The win sets the tone for Al Ahly’s title ambitions, as the Cairo giants aim to extend their CAF dominance in this season’s campaign.
