Beginning in 1982 Al Ahly's dominated the continent for more than 40 years. Few can equal the levels the team has set under number of foreign and local managers.

In addition to the already-imposed match forfeiture, they contend that Al Ahly should lose three points for missing the Cairo derby against Zamalek. Al Ahly might lose the championship if CAS rules in Pyramids' favor, giving Pyramids their first-ever league triumph.
