Al Ahly Responds to Emam Ashour’s Six Month Prison Sentence
Egyptian club Al Ahly has responded to the recent sentencing of their player, Emam Ashour, to six months in prison by the Sheikh Zayed Misdemeanors Appeals Court. The verdict pertains to Ashour’s alleged assault on a security guard at a shopping center.
According to Kooora, Al Ahly management promptly reached out to Ashour and his lawyer to assess the situation and plan an appeal. Initially, Ashour had been acquitted of the charges, but the recent ruling overturned that decision.
A source within Al Ahly told Al-Masry Al-Youm: “We have no comment on judicial rulings; the case falls under the responsibility of the player’s lawyer.” He added that Al Ahly’s legal advisor, Mohamed Othman, is managing the case alongside Ashour.
The source also clarified that Ashour was unaware of the hearing date, resulting in a default judgment against him.
