Al Ahly Midfield Shake-Up: Aliou Dieng Nearing Exit After Club World Cup

Big changes are brewing inside Al Ahly’s camp as the Cairo giants prepare for a major midfield reshuffle following their Club World Cup campaign in the United States.
Attiyat Allah exit confirmed
According to renowned TV host Medhat Shalaby, the club has decided not to activate the buyout clause of Moroccan left-back Yahia Attiyat Allah, who joined on loan from FC Sochi. He will be the first departure once the Red Devils conclude their tournament run.
Foreign defender wanted — Ashraf Dari or Dieng to go
Head coach Jose Riveiro has reportedly requested the signing of a new foreign center-back, which has forced the board to consider clearing a foreign quota spot.
Initially, Ashraf Dari was expected to be offloaded to make room. But if that plan fails, Aliou Dieng will be put on the market.
Dieng’s future uncertain amid failed Hemao deal
Reliable journalist Sacha Tavolieri revealed that Al Ahly were chasing Togolese midfielder Josué Homawoo, formerly of Dinamo Bucharest, but Standard Liège beat them to the signing.
With that option gone, Dieng now appears to be the most likely casualty, especially as the team prepares for the 2025/2026 season.
