Ajayi Leads Hull City Comeback With First Goal for the Club
Semi Ajayi scored his first goal for Hull City as the Tigers came from behind to beat Stoke City 2-1 at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday. Stoke struck first in the 17th minute through Sorba Thomas, putting the hosts in control early on.
Hull responded immediately after the break, with Ajayi heading in a Mohamed Belloumi corner in the 48th minute. His powerful close-range effort brought the visitors level and shifted momentum firmly in their favour.
Hull kept up the pressure throughout the second half and were eventually rewarded in the 90th minute when Joe Gelhardt scored the decisive winner, completing the comeback and securing all three points.
Ajayi impressed at both ends of the pitch, using his defensive strength and set-piece presence to influence the match. The centre-back is expected to be named in Eric Chelle’s provisional squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
