The winter transfer window opened earlier this month, and while major transfers are yet to happen, there’s plenty to come. Dailysports has compiled a list of the top 10 European clubs with the highest transfer profits over the past ten years.
Details: Interestingly, the top 10 includes no major European top-tier clubs. The list is predominantly made up of mid-level teams, with Benfica and Ajax leading the rankings.
It’s important to note that the ranking is based not on the total value of sold players but on the net balance of incoming and outgoing transfers.
Top 10 most profitable clubs in the transfer market since the 2014/15 season:
- Benfica – +€814.7 million
- Ajax – +€512.11 million
- Red Bull Salzburg – +€445.24 million
- Porto – +€385.39 million
- Lille – +€370.02 million
- Sporting Lisbon – +€354.17 million
- Monaco – +€285.06 million
- Braga – +€244.68 million
- PSV – +€236.94 million
- Dinamo Zagreb – +€224.32 million
Reminder: It was also announced today that Atlético Madrid’s sporting director Andrea Berta, who has been with the club since 2013, is stepping down.
