Ajax Agree Deal to Sign Ivorian Winger Simon Adingra on Loan from Sunderland

Ajax have reportedly reached an agreement with Sunderland to sign Ivory Coast international Simon Adingra on a season-long loan.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal has been agreed upon after Adingra completed his medical. Sunderland are set to receive more than €3 million in loan fees, while Ajax will have a €16 million option to buy the winger at the end of the season.

According to Fabrizio, the purchase option is not mandatory, meaning Ajax will have the choice of whether to make Adingra’s move permanent.

The 24-year-old is currently recovering from an injury and is expected to return to action soon.

Adingra joined Sunderland from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2025 for nearly €25 million. However, his first season at the club proved difficult, with the Ivorian making just 14 appearances.

He also spent the second half of last season on loan at AS Monaco, where he scored three goals and provided three assists in 14 appearances.
