Al Ahly Urges Swift Action for Fairness in Egyptian Premier League
Ahead of the new Egyptian Premier League season, Al Ahly has raised concerns over recent refereeing, urging swift changes to ensure fair play. Hours before facing Ceramica Cleopatra in their season opener, Al Ahly sent an official request to the Egyptian Football Association, calling for an experienced foreign expert to lead the Referees Committee.
The club emphasized that this expert should have a strong track record and highlighted that the need for fair refereeing was discussed in a league-wide meeting on September 18.
Al Ahly also called for supportive conditions to ensure this expert’s success and promote fairness across teams. The club’s statement noted that early signs from the first round of officiating have raised concerns about potential issues this season.
Meanwhile, Zamalek defeated National Bank 3-2, and Pyramids drew 1-1 with Petrojet. This season’s league format is unique, with a single-round structure followed by group stages for the title and relegation.
