Aftermath of Messi Farewell Friendly: Benin Reportedly Accuses Argentina of Unfair Treatment Aftermath of Messi Farewell Friendly: Benin Reportedly Accuses Argentina of Unfair Treatment

Benin have reportedly expressed frustration over their treatment by the Argentine Football Association and Argentina’s players following their recent international friendly.

According to multiple reports, the Benin delegation did not receive appearance bonuses or a share of the revenue generated from the fixture. The reports also claim that the two teams did not exchange shirts after the match.

Further allegations suggest that Benin players and officials were prevented from taking photographs with their Argentine counterparts and were denied access to the area reserved for the Argentina delegation.

However, as of the time of writing this report, neither the Argentine Football Association nor the Benin Football Federation has publicly confirmed all of the allegations surrounding the fixture.

The friendly was organised as the farewell occasion for Lionel Messi, following his retirement from international football. The match saw Argentina secure a 3-0 victory over Benin in the encounter.
