After the bombshell verdict. Guardiola wants to return to the Etihad
Pep Guardiola is planning a surprise return to the Etihad to attend Manchester City's next home match. According to the Daily Mirror, the former manager wants to personally support the club following the decision by an independent commission in the case involving breaches of the Premier League's financial rules.
Guardiola is expected to be at the stadium on October 14, when City face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. According to the publication, the Spaniard has told the club's hierarchy that he wants to “be with his people.”
As a reminder, on September 29, an independent commission found Manchester City guilty on all charges related to breaches of financial regulations between 2009 and 2018. The club disagreed with the findings and officially lodged an appeal on October 2.
Guardiola himself, who left Manchester City after the end of last season, had previously voiced his public support for his former club. “I have always supported, support and will continue to support my club,” the Catalan said.
During his ten years in Manchester, Guardiola won 20 trophies. Now he could return to the Etihad to support the team during a difficult period.
