Slovenian midfielder Kevin Kampl has requested to terminate his contract with RB Leipzig. The 35-year-old's decision stems from pressing family circumstances.
The official website of the German club announced that Leipzig has granted the player's request, with his contract set to be mutually terminated as of January 31, 2026. It is reported that, following the death of his brother in October and his father's illness, Kampl expressed a desire to spend more time with his family.
A special tribute to the midfielder, who dedicated 8.5 years to Leipzig, is planned for the match against Bayern on January 17. Since joining the club in the summer of 2017, Kampl has made 283 appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing 23 assists.
