Orlando Pirates have delivered a powerful statement in African football! The South African giants comfortably defeated Namibia's African Stars to secure their place in the CAF Champions League group stage, completing an impressive two-legged victory.

Details: According to iDiski Times, Orlando Pirates defeated African Stars 3-0 in the second leg of their CAF Champions League second preliminary round tie on October 23. Thapelo Mokobodi, Evidence Makgopa and Mpho Padime scored for the Buccaneers. Combined with their 1-0 away victory in the opening encounter, the result gave the South African side a commanding 4-0 aggregate triumph and confirmed their qualification for the group stage.

Pirates entered the decisive encounter holding a narrow advantage after Tshepang Moremi scored the only goal in the first leg on October 17. That match was played at the Botswana National Stadium in Gaborone, as African Stars were unable to use a CAF-approved venue in Namibia. Despite the slender lead, the Buccaneers approached the return fixture with confidence and quickly demonstrated their attacking superiority.

The victory represents a major achievement for coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, whose team has developed impressive momentum in domestic and continental competitions. Mokobodi provided an important contribution from midfield, while Makgopa and Padime added their names to the scoresheet. The convincing performance allowed Pirates to progress without conceding a single goal across the two matches.

It's worth noting that Orlando Pirates were eliminated at the same qualifying stage last season after losing a penalty shootout against Saint-Éloi Lupopo. They have now avoided another disappointment and returned to the Champions League group stage. The Buccaneers previously reached the competition's semifinals in the 2024/25 campaign, establishing themselves among Africa's strongest clubs.

Reminder: Not just the saves! Ouaddou reveals what makes Sipho Chaine vital to Orlando Pirates.
