AFCON 2027 Qualifiers: Sudan Beat Ethiopia 1-0 to Go Top of Group J

Sudan have opened their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Ethiopia at the Juba Stadium.

The two sides played out a goalless first half, with neither team able to find the breakthrough despite their efforts.

Sudan eventually got the decisive goal in the 86th minute when Mohammed Eisa found the back of the net from the spot kick to give his side a crucial victory and all three points.

The result moves Sudan to the top of Group J with three points, following Senegal's 1-1 draw with Mozambique in the other group fixture.

Sudan will now turn their attention to their second qualifying match, when they face Mozambique on September 29.
