AFCON 2025: Tunisia Send Warning Shot To Super Eagles After Brazil Stalemate
Tunisia have sent a clear warning to Group C rivals Nigeria after holding five-time world champions Brazil to a 1-1 draw in an international friendly on Tuesday. The result stretches the Carthage Eagles’ unbeaten run to six matches — four wins and two draws — as they prepare for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Tunisia, who face the Super Eagles on December 27, started brightly and went ahead in the 23rd minute after taking advantage of a defensive error. Brazil equalised just before the break, with Chelsea teenager Estevão Willian scoring from the penalty spot to level the game at 1-1.
The South Americans had a chance to snatch victory late in the match, but Lucas Paquetá failed to convert a 78th-minute penalty, allowing Tunisia to secure a confidence-boosting result.
Nigeria will meet Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania in Group C when the 35th AFCON finals begin in December, and Tuesday’s performance shows the North Africans will be a tough test for every team in the group.
