AFCON 2025: Osimhen Rated Second Behind Mbeumo
Victor Osimhen has been ranked the second most valuable player heading into the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, according to TransferRoom’s xTV metric. The Nigerian striker, valued at €95 million, trails Manchester United winger Bryan Mbeumo, who tops the list at €96.5 million.
The ranking has triggered debate across African football, with many Nigerian supporters questioning the logic behind the numbers. Other stars in the top ten include Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush, Nicolas Jackson, Carlos Baleba, Dango Ouattara, Eliesse Ben Seghir and Amad Diallo.
Confusion deepened after Transfermarkt ranked Achraf Hakimi as the most valuable, placing Osimhen and Mbeumo level. Despite the figures, Osimhen’s impact for Nigeria remains unquestioned. The 26-year-old has scored 31 goals for the Super Eagles and could use the ranking as motivation when AFCON kicks off in Morocco next year.
