AFCON 2025: No Decision on Trophy Return, Senegal FA Lawyer Clarifies CAF Appeal Outcome
Seydou Diagne, legal representative of the Senegalese Football Federation, has clarified that there is currently no official ruling from the Confederation of African Football Appeals Board directing Senegal to return the 2025 AFCON trophy or medals.
Speaking at a press conference, Diagne addressed the ongoing dispute and outlined the key demands made by Morocco during both the initial case and subsequent appeal.
According to him, Morocco requested four main outcomes: recognition that Senegal withdrew from the match, validation of a 3-0 victory by default, withdrawal of the AFCON title from Senegal, and the reassignment of all rewards — including the trophy, medals, and prize money — to Morocco.
However, Diagne revealed that not all of these requests were upheld by the Appeals Jury. He confirmed that while some aspects were considered, the crucial demands to strip Senegal of the title and hand over the rewards were rejected.
“In the ruling that was notified to us, the Appeals Jury rejected the last two requests,” he stated.
He concluded by firmly dismissing claims that Senegal had been ordered to return their title.
“There is today also no decision from the Appeals Jury ordering the restitution of the medals and the trophy.”
