AFCON 2025: CAF Suspends Samuel Eto’o for Four Games and Fines Him $20,000 for Misconduct Against Morocco
The CAF Disciplinary Board has handed down a suspension and fine to Cameroonian Football Federation president Samuel Eto’o following his conduct during Cameroon’s loss to Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
On Wednesday, January 14, the disciplinary panel of the continental football governing body confirmed the sanctions, officially announcing the decision through CAFOnline.
According to the statement, “The CAF Disciplinary Board found Mr. Eto’o guilty of violating the principles of sportsmanship set out in Article 2(3) of the CAF Statutes and Article 82 of the CAF Disciplinary Code for his misconduct during the said match.”
As a result, Eto’o has been banned from attending the next four official CAF matches and fined USD 20,000. The decision underscores CAF’s commitment to enforcing discipline and upholding the integrity of the tournament.
