AFCON 2025: CAF and Local Organizing Committee Confirm Key Participation Rules

With just weeks to go before the continental football extravaganza, CAF has made some important decisions regarding the participation rules for the AFCON.
Following a Zoom meeting with the 24 teams, CAF and the Local Organizing Committee for AFCON 2025 confirmed the main rules.
Key Decisions:
- Each nation can register a maximum of 28 players, selected from its preliminary squad of 55.
- 17 staff members are allowed, including technical, administrative, and medical personnel.
- Teams can arrive in Morocco up to 5 days before the opening ceremony to ensure optimal preparation.
- Clubs must release their players before December 8, in accordance with FIFA requirements.
The meeting also covered visas for officials, training camps, team hotels, media and marketing, anti-doping and medical regulations, conduct with referees, and commercial matters.
