Arab nations are on the brink of a historic showing at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to take place in Morocco. With five Arab teams already securing their spots, three more have a chance to qualify in the final round of group matches.

The confirmed qualifiers include Egypt, the tournament’s most successful team with seven titles, alongside Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco (as hosts), and Comoros. Sudan, Mauritania, and Libya are still in contention. Should all three succeed, Arab representation at the tournament will reach an unprecedented eight teams, surpassing the previous record of seven set at AFCON 2021.

For Sudan, a draw against Angola would ensure qualification, while Mauritania must beat Cape Verde and rely on Egypt defeating Botswana. Libya faces a tougher challenge, needing a win over Benin by at least two goals and favorable results in Rwanda’s match against Nigeria.

AFCON 2025 could mark a defining moment for Arab football’s continental presence.
