AFCON 2025: Alebiosu Chooses Nigeria, Eyes Super Eagles Debut

Blackburn Rovers defender Ryan Alebiosu has expressed his excitement after accepting his first international call-up to represent Nigeria at AFCON 2025.

The 23-year-old, born in England to Nigerian parents, was eligible for both nations, but confirmed his commitment after being named in Eric Chelle’s squad.

His inclusion followed injuries to Ola Aina and Benjamin Fredrick, prompting the Super Eagles coach to act quickly.

Speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire, Alebiosu said, “I am obviously excited; playing for my nation for the first time is a pleasure,” adding Nigeria “has always been a big part of me…It’s special.” at AFCON in Morocco this year.
