Tennis star Alexander Zverev, currently competing at the Australian Open, shared an endearing moment with his girlfriend Sofia Thomalla, which was later posted on her Instagram.
As Zverev prepared to take to the court for his quarterfinal match against Tommy Paul, cameras caught a sweet behind-the-scenes interaction between the couple. Sofia was there to encourage and motivate him before the big match.
The two shared a unique goodbye ritual that included a playful clap, a handshake, and a kiss.
“I have a special handshake with my physiotherapist, my fitness coach, my best friend Marcelo Melo, my brother Mischa, and now with Sofia. Sofia’s is, of course, the sweetest one—no question about it,” Zverev explained.
The lucky charm seemed to work, as Zverev defeated his opponent in four sets, advancing to the semifinals of the Australian Open. The German star now awaits his next opponent, who will be decided in the match between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.
