Ademola Lookman Sparks Exit Rumours After Unfollowing Atalanta
Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has fuelled speculation of an imminent Atalanta exit after unfollowing the club on Instagram and archiving all photos of himself in their jersey. The move comes just days after his tense touchline exchange with manager Ivan Jurić during Atalanta’s 1-0 win over Olympique Marseille.
Fans noticed the change on Lookman’s verified Instagram account on Saturday, where he no longer follows Atalanta’s official page and has removed all posts linking him to the club. The action immediately triggered online debate, with many suggesting the forward is frustrated and wants to leave the Gewiss Stadium. Some Nigerian fans have also viewed it as a direct message to the club’s management following his public altercation with Jurić.
Reports indicate that Lookman’s relationship with the Atalanta hierarchy has been strained since the 2025 summer transfer window, when the club reportedly blocked several offers from top European sides. The 28-year-old forward, one of Atalanta’s most consistent performers, has reportedly grown unhappy with how the club has handled his situation.
The 2024 CAF Player of the Year had previously hinted at feeling unfairly treated, a situation dating back to former coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s public criticism after a missed penalty. Jurić, who succeeded Gasperini, appears to have inherited that tension.
Lookman’s actions have now intensified rumours of a January move, with Tottenham Hotspur, Atlético Madrid, and other European clubs said to be monitoring developments. Despite his tally of 53 goals and 25 assists since joining Atalanta, the club has yet to issue any statement on his status—leaving fans guessing what comes next for the Super Eagles star.
