Achraf Hakimi, a Moroccan football star, continues to fascinate spectators with his personality and commitment to his roots, both on and off the game. The Paris Saint-Germain star's recent visit to Morocco demonstrated not only his affection for the country, but also his dedication to improving its neighborhoods.
Hakimi shocked his audience by giving them a straightforward nighttime tour of Casablanca's historic areas. He decided to travel in a standard "mini-taxi" rather than a fancy sedan with a big security detail. Using images and videos from locations such as the historic "Habous Quarter," Hakimi posted about his journey on Instagram with the caption, "Son of the Earth."
His transparency attracted Moroccan admirers, who also praised his relatability and humility. During one particularly noteworthy interaction, Moroccan teammate Amr Richardson made a lighthearted remark regarding the cost of a taxi ride to Agadir. Hakimi responded with a joking "500 dirhams."
This visit was part of a major charitable endeavor in addition to being personal. The Achraf Hakimi Foundation, in partnership with Tibu Africa, launched a sports-inclusion program for youth with disabilities at the Bawfi Center in Casablanca. The project aligns with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and aims to promote social and economic integration through tailored sports activities.
Hakimi’s involvement, from grassroots interactions to transformative programs, reflects his deep connection to his homeland and his mission to empower future generations through sports and education.
