Achraf Hakimi Could Miss AFCON Next Month After Suffering Ankle Injury
Moroccan and Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi is in danger of missing the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) next month after picking up an ankle injury during PSG’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.
The 26-year-old was forced to leave the pitch midway through the first half following a heavy collision with Colombian winger Luis Díaz.
According to reports from AS, medical scans confirmed that Hakimi sustained a syndesmosis tear and a minor deltoid ligament injury. He is expected to be immobilized for two weeks, followed by six to eight weeks of rehabilitation before returning to full fitness.
This timeline suggests that Hakimi may not recover in time for the AFCON 2025, which will be hosted in Morocco. His absence would be a huge blow for both PSG and the Moroccan national team, as the right-back has been one of their most influential players in recent years.
