AC Milan's goalkeeper played the entire Serie A match with a fever
AC Milan's goalkeeper Mike Maignan played through the Serie A match against Fiorentina despite having a fever, as reported by Corriere della Sera.
In the second half of the 13th-round Serie A match against Fiorentina, Maignan felt unwell. According to sources, the French goalkeeper entered the game with the flu and a temperature of 39 degrees. However, despite the illness, Maignan played the entire match and even saved his team in the final minutes of the encounter after a shot from Rolando Mandragora. Nevertheless, his condition was evident during the match, as Mike lay on the field for about a minute in the second half due to poor health.
In May 2021, Mike was officially introduced as a Milan player. Maignan signed a five-year contract with an annual salary of €2.5 million. He made his debut for Milan on August 23 against Sampdoria, keeping a clean sheet. On September 15, 2021, he saved a penalty in the Champions League match against Liverpool.
In his first season in Italy, he became the winner of Serie A and also won the "Best Serie A Goalkeeper" award in the 2021/2022 season.
Recall that Milan defeated Fiorentina, ending a four-match winless streak in Serie A and maintaining the third position in the table.
