AC Milan cruised to victory at home against Cagliari, securing their spot in the quarterfinals of the Italian Cup.

The Rossoneri netted three unanswered goals against their opponents, achieving this by the 50th minute mark. Luka Jović registered a brace during the first half, with both goals assisted by Theo Hernandez. However, any lingering doubts about the match's outcome were dispelled early in the second half when 19-year-old Chaka Traore scored his debut goal for the red and black side at the senior level.

Cagliari managed only a consolation goal, courtesy of Paulo Azzi. However, the visitors fell short as Rafael Leão sealed Milan's win with another goal, extending their lead by two goals.

In the quarterfinals, Stefano Pioli's team will face the winner between Atalanta and Sassuolo, scheduled to play their match on January 3rd.

Inter is the current holder of the Italian Cup, while Juventus remains the most successful team in the tournament's history. AC Milan has won the Cup five times, with their most recent victory dating back to 2003.
