It seems Unai Emery will remain Aston Villa's head coach for a long time.
Today, the club officially announced the extension of the Spanish specialist's contract until the summer of 2029. According to the new agreement, Aston Villa has significantly increased Emery's salary.
Interestingly, just recently, at the end of last month, Aston Villa had extended Emery's contract until the summer of 2027. However, after a successful end to the season, the club decided to improve the terms for the coach.
“I am very happy of leading this club. There’s a great chemistry in Aston Villa", Emery commented on the contract extension.
The 52-year-old Spaniard has been managing Aston Villa since November 2022. In the recently concluded season, the "Lions" sensationally finished in fourth place, meaning they will play in the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 1984. Aston Villa also reached the semifinals of the Conference League, where they unexpectedly lost to Olympiacos.
Before Aston Villa, Emery managed Sevilla, Valencia, Villarreal, PSG, and Arsenal.
