Abdessamad Ezzalzouli’s proposed move to Newcastle United has been placed in serious doubt after the winger suffered an MCL knee injury that has ruled him out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 24-year-old picked up the injury during Morocco’s final warm-up match ahead of the tournament, with medical assessments confirming the severity of the setback shortly after the game.
Following the diagnosis, the winger was withdrawn from Morocco’s squad, replacing him with Amine Sbai of Angers.
The injury is also reported to affect Newcastle’s interest in the winger, with the Premier League side now reportedly reassessing their plans before making any formal move.
