Aaron Ramsey Signs With Pumas, Set to Join Liga MX for Apertura 2025

Aaron Ramsey is on the verge of becoming a new signing for Pumas UNAM, in what would be one of the most unexpected moves of the Liga MX summer transfer window. Multiple sources report that the Welsh midfielder has already signed his contract with the Mexican club, although an official announcement is still pending.

After weeks of behind-the-scenes negotiations, the deal appears to be all but finalized. Ramsey, 34, recently wrapped up his second stint with Cardiff City in England’s Championship and was reportedly looking for a new challenge. That opportunity now seems to lie in Mexico City, where he would join Pumas ahead of the Apertura 2025.

The move has been facilitated by David Baldwin, who represents both Ramsey and Pumas manager Efraín Juárez. According to reports, Ramsey has agreed to a one-year deal with the club.

While the signing hasn't been confirmed by Pumas, ESPN’s John Sutcliffe was among the first to indicate that the deal is done. If made official, Ramsey would bring world-class experience to the midfield, having played for Arsenal, Juventus, and the Welsh national team during a decorated career.
