A young Senegalese talent on trial at Chelsea

Souleymane Faye could be set to take the next step in his young career.

The 16-year-old Senegalese attacking midfielder is currently in England, where he is on trial at Chelsea, one of the Premier League’s top clubs.

A product of the Be Sport Academy in Senegal, the young player made a name for himself in 2025 at the WAFU-A U17 tournament held in Mali. He finished the competition as both the tournament’s best player and top scorer, helping Senegal to the title.

Souleymane Faye has since gone on to demonstrate his qualities with the youth national teams. This year, in particular, he won the U17 Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal’s young lions.

The young attacking midfielder then distinguished himself at the latest edition of the WAFU-A U17 tournament held in Dakar. Senegal reached the final of the competition, before losing on penalties to The Gambia on Sunday 20 September.

Despite missing a penalty in the closing minutes of the final, Souleymane Faye finished the tournament with three goals. With this trial at Chelsea, the young Senegalese player is continuing his development.
