A WWE legend is leaving. John Cena has decided to retire
Last night at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada, the WWE Money in the Bank tournament took place. In addition to thrilling championship matches and tag team bouts, the event was marked by a significant announcement.
During the tournament, the iconic music of WWE legend John Cena played, and he ran to the ring, grabbing a microphone.
After waiting for the audience's ovation to subside, Cena made a heartfelt announcement. The wrestling legend stated that he has decided to retire next year. Cena, dressed in a red T-shirt emblazoned with "Farewell Tour," declared his intention to have about 40 more matches and to compete for a record-breaking seventeenth world championship title.
"I've been doing this for quite some time. I've been in WWE for over two decades," Cena addressed the fans.
"In that time, I've seen incredible waves of prosperity, like the one we're experiencing right now.
WWE is undoubtedly the hottest ticket in town. But I've also seen tremendous hardships.
That's when no one knows your name, no one wants to be your friend, and only the most loyal, die-hard fans stick by you.
Over all these years, one of the most important and impressive things I've learned is that no matter whether WWE is hot or cold, Canadians always come out to the ring."
Following Cena's words, chants of "Thank you, Cena" erupted from the fans in the Scotiabank Arena, expressing their gratitude.
Cena is considered one of the greatest wrestlers of all time in WWE. He joined the organization in 2001 and has had a highly successful career, earning a place in the Wrestling Hall of Fame for his achievements.
