“A wounded king is dangerous.” José Mourinho comments on clash with Real Madrid
The UEFA Champions League playoff stage kicks off this week, and in one of the marquee fixtures Benfica will take on Real Madrid. The Eagles’ head coach addressed the upcoming showdown.
Details: Speaking at a pre-match press conference, José Mourinho described Real Madrid as a wounded king — and warned that such a scenario makes them even more dangerous.
Quote: “We know what we did to Real Madrid, the Kings of the Champions League. They are wounded. And a wounded King is dangerous,” Mourinho stated.
The match between Real Madrid and Benfica will be played in Portugal on Tuesday, February 17, with kickoff scheduled for 21:00 CET. It will serve as the first leg of the preliminary Champions League playoff round.
Reminder: Real Madrid dismantled Real Sociedad with a commanding 4–1 victory in La Liga. The star of the show was Vinícius Júnior, who achieved a feat no Los Blancos player had managed in more than seven decades.
