In the 28th round of the Spanish La Liga, Mallorca snatched a victory from Espanyol with a score of 2-1.
The main protagonist of the match was Mallorca forward Vedat Muriqi. He scored an own goal and also failed to convert a penalty.
Details. Muriqi became the first player to score an own goal and miss a penalty in a single La Liga match since Sergio Ramos (on May 9, 2018, against Sevilla).
Notably, in stoppage time, Muriqi managed to redeem himself and successfully converted a penalty, securing three points for his team!
The 30-year-old Muriqi has been playing for Mallorca since 2022, after transferring from Lazio in Rome. This season, the Kosovo national team striker has scored seven goals and provided two assists in all competitions.
