A well-known insider has commented on Bayern's rumoured interest in the Chelsea defender
On the previous day, it was reported that Bayern have found a replacement for Alfonso Davies, who is close to a move to Real Madrid, in the form of Chelsea defender Ian Maatsen, who is on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
Prominent insider Fabrizio Romano reacted to these rumours in a column on The Daily Briefing, stating that there are no specifics yet:
"I am aware of these rumours, but right now I am not aware of any contact with Maatsen at this stage. Bayern are undoubtedly looking for an edge defender at the moment, but there are a lot of names being linked with them every day. Of course, they are monitoring the market, preparing for the possibility of life without Davies."
To recap, it was previously reported that Bayern have identified a backup in Maatsen in case they fail to sign Milan defender Theo Hernandez.
