"A very boring answer." Wenger responds to Klopp's criticism of the Club World Cup
The Club World Cup has come under plenty of fire from players, pundits, and officials alike. Yet, there are still staunch defenders of the tournament—even from the most expected quarters.
Details: Former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger, now serving as a FIFA advisor, addressed Jürgen Klopp’s recent comments describing the competition as the worst possible idea.
According to Wenger, there are many ways to respond to such an opinion, but the best answer comes from the clubs and fans who have shown genuine interest in the competition.
Quote: "I will give a very boring answer to a very interesting question. Everyone has the right to their own opinion, and I completely disagree with Jürgen Klopp’s point of view.
I believe the Club World Cup is necessary. If you ask every club that has been here, 100 percent of the responses would be in favor of participating in it again. That is the best answer to the question of what clubs think about the Club World Cup.
And the decisive question is: 'Do the fans like it or not?' We initially expected low attendance, but in reality, it was much higher. The answer is obvious," said Wenger, as quoted by The Athletic.
