Ugandan track and field athlete Benjamin Kiplagat, who competed in three Olympic Games, was killed on Sunday, December 31, in Kenya.

On Sunday, in the outskirts of Eldoret, the car of the 34-year-old athlete's brother was found, containing Kiplagat's body with stab wounds.

On Monday, two men were arrested on suspicion of committing the crime.

Kiplagat, specializing in the 3000 meters steeplechase, participated in the Olympic Games in 2008, 2012, and 2016, as well as in six World Championships. In the 2012 Olympics in London, he reached the semifinals. He won a silver medal at the 2008 Junior World Championships.
