A UFC fighter has been arrested by the police for kidnapping a girl
Police have arrested UFC fighter Casey Kenney on multiple charges, including kidnapping a girl, according to MMA Fighting.
He was apprehended by detectives from the Phoenix Police Department’s fugitive unit on August 16 at 12:00 PM local time. Kenney faces charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault (strangulation). He has since been released from custody. In total, Kenney faces six charges.
It has been reported that, in late July, police responded to a call from the victim, Jasmine Mendes. She alleged that Kenney had held her in a house for 13 hours, subjecting her to physical abuse, including hitting, slapping, and biting.
Kenney allegedly threatened to shoot Mendes, her mother, and anyone who appeared at the house. Mendes sustained bruises, abrasions, and marks from attempted strangulation.
Kenney faces a potential sentence ranging from four to 12.5 years in prison. A preliminary hearing for the case is scheduled for August 26.
