Former boxer Musa Abdraim neutralized an attacker at Almaty Airport and received a state award. In Kazakhstan, a man with a knife took a security screening officer hostage at the airport. However, the athlete, who was in the building seeing off a friend, managed to disarm the criminal.

Details: The incident occurred on March 7 at around 11:45 in the domestic terminal. The 67-year-old assailant entered the screening area, pretending to be a passenger. When aviation security officers asked him to show his documents, he suddenly grabbed a girl by the hair and held a knife to her.

Negotiations with the attacker lasted several minutes. During this time, Musa Abdraim offered himself as a hostage. When the criminal agreed and released the girl, the former boxer seized the moment, snatched the knife from him, and allowed the police to apprehend the assailant.

The video from the scene went viral on social media, garnering over 8 million views in just one day. Users expressed admiration for Abdraim's bravery, highlighting his decisiveness and selflessness.

Reminder: Abdraim's courageous act also caught the attention of the World Boxing Council (WBC). The organization's president, Mauricio Sulaiman, contacted him via video call and awarded him the special title of "The Bravest Person in the World." This is a rare award from the WBC, previously given only to young Bridger Walker, after whom the bridgerweight division is named.
