The Italian national team faced Switzerland in the Round of 16 of Euro 2024, where the Azzurri were surprisingly defeated 2-0, thus exiting the tournament.
Remarkably, Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer recorded his first clean sheet of the tournament against Italy, needing only one save to achieve this feat.
In contrast, his counterpart Gianluigi Donnarumma made two saves during the match.
As a result, the Euro 2020 champions, Italy, were eliminated in the Round of 16.
In the Euro 2024 quarterfinals, Switzerland will face the winner of the England vs. Slovakia match.
