A sensational rule could be introduced in the Premier League from next season

According to The Telegraph, the International Football Association Board (IFAB) has agreed in principle to a rugby-based experiment in top competitions.
The rule, according to which a footballer can be sent off the field for 10 minutes, may be introduced already in the new season of the English Premier League.
A player will be sent off for 10 minutes for offenses that are not serious enough to warrant a red card, but are still serious and warrant some punishment.
During a meeting on Tuesday, experts showed an example of a gross violation of the rules committed by Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini towards England player Bukayo Saka in the European Championship final. Then the Italian was shown only a yellow card. According to the authors of the idea, in that episode it would have been an ideal decision to remove Chiellini for 10 minutes.
Previously, IFAB also considered introducing a temporary 10-minute suspension for insulting a referee by a player, as well as the possibility of allowing only the team captain to communicate with the referee.
