A real-life hero! Mané invests £15 million in a project that will change his homeland

While many football stars spend their fortunes on luxury, Sadio Mané once again proves he plays by different rules. The Al-Nassr forward has invested a colossal sum into the development of his native region in Senegal.

Details: According to The Touchline, Mané has invested £15 million into a huge project called SM10 Agro in his hometown of Bambali. The initiative will create 1,000 jobs and includes a 500-hectare mango plantation, processing factories and an agricultural college. Around 78,000 mango trees will be planted, with the first harvest expected in three years.

Explaining his motivation, Mané said: "I want the young people and women of my region to have real opportunities for education." According to African media, the total value of the project amounts to 11.7 billion CFA francs (around $19.5 million), and the foundation stone of the agro-industrial park is set to be laid on September 19. The complex will focus on growing and processing mangoes, one of Senegal's key agricultural products. This is far from the first act of generosity from the 2019 African Footballer of the Year: over the years, the former Liverpool star has funded a hospital, a school, a stadium and free internet in Bambali, and he regularly donates money to local families. Interestingly, the announcement comes on the very day when Mané made headlines for football reasons too: new Senegal coach Patrick Vieira left the veteran out of his first squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, citing the player's fitness. Mané, who reportedly earns over £30 million a year in Saudi Arabia, clearly prefers to invest his money where it matters most, in the future of his people.

It's worth noting that Bambali, where Mané was born and raised, is a small village in the Sedhiou region, and the footballer has already spent more than £1 million on charity projects there over the years.
