A noble cause: tennis legend Rafael Nadal supports charity auction for sick children
Tennis icon Rafael Nadal took part in the Polish charity auction WOŚP, aimed at raising funds for children suffering from severe hematological and oncological diseases, reports Sportowe Fakty.
The Spanish star learned about the auction from Jan Fronczkiewicz, a 17-year-old Polish player studying at Nadal’s academy. The young athlete’s story inspired Nadal to contribute to the initiative by donating his signed racket and ball.
The WOŚP auction concluded on Sunday, January 26, with the final events wrapping up on Monday. Nadal’s racket was sold for an astonishing €47,500.
Another sports star who participated in the auction was Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker offered two tickets to any Barcelona match, along with an exclusive opportunity to attend a training session with the team.
Nadal officially retired from professional tennis in November 2024 after losing to a Dutch opponent in a Davis Cup match for Spain.
