Details: Today, the official X (formerly Twitter) page of Swiss side Basel announced that 42-year-old specialist Stephan Lichtsteiner has officially taken charge as the club's new head coach.
It is reported that Lichtsteiner's contract with Basel runs until 2029.
Stephan Lichtsteiner began his coaching career in 2021, initially serving as assistant coach for Switzerland's U-18 national team. He then worked with Basel's youth squad, Basel U-16, and also managed Wettswil, a club competing in Switzerland's fourth division.
As a player, Lichtsteiner featured for clubs such as Grasshopper, Lille, Juventus, Lazio, Arsenal, and Augsburg, where he hung up his boots in 2020.
Lichtsteiner also boasts 108 appearances for the Swiss national team, netting 8 goals during his international career.
