Manchester United defender Raphael Varane will be sidelined for several weeks due to a muscular injury sustained during the match against Chelsea last week. This information has been confirmed by the club's press office.

It is noted that the 2018 World Cup champion is expected to return to fitness by the end of the season in May.

In the current season, the 30-year-old Frenchman has played 30 matches in all competitions for Manchester United, scoring one goal. Varane's contract is set to expire in a year, and there are speculations that he may leave the club in the summer.

Varane's center-back partner, Jonny Evans, will also miss Saturday's game against Bournemouth due to a short-term muscular issue.

Manchester United currently occupies sixth place in the Premier League table, trailing the Champions League qualification zone by 11 points. The team coached by Erik ten Hag will face Bournemouth on April 13th.
