Totti admitted that after these events he plunged into a deep depression:
"After I stopped playing football and then lost my father to COVID, my wife wasn't there for me. It's not true that I was the first to be unfaithful to her.
People I trusted told me about my wife's infidelity, so I checked her phone to be sure, something I had never done before.
I couldn't sleep anymore. I pretended nothing was happening, but I was no longer myself," Totti revealed.
Totti was married to TV presenter Ilary Blasi from 2005 to 2022, but after a series of mutual accusations of infidelity, the couple announced their separation.
In July 2017, Francesco Totti announced his retirement, having spent his entire playing career with one club—Roma. For the Giallorossi, he made 785 appearances, scoring 307 goals and providing 205 assists.
