It is reported that this transfer was personally requested by head coach Ruben Amorim, who sees David as the perfect defensive partner for Leny Yoro looking ahead.
Elche have stated that they are willing to part with their defensive leader for a fee of no less than €30 million, a sum that suits Manchester United just fine.
David Affengruber joined Elche last summer as a free agent from Sturm Graz. This season, he has made 15 appearances for Elche without any goal contributions.
His current contract with the club runs until 2027, and his market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €7.5 million.
