Key midfielder Marten de Roon has announced that he will not be able to assist the Netherlands national team at Euro 2024.
"This week I lost Coppa Italia, couldn’t play the final, win Europa League. In last euphoric state, I spent a lot of time with the medical staff: it turns out I can’t play the Euros", de Roon stated.
De Roon is expected to recover in time for the start of preseason training.
This season, the 33-year-old midfielder played 46 matches for Atalanta across all competitions, scoring 5 goals.
In his international career with the Netherlands, de Roon has played 42 matches.
Euro 2024 begins on June 14, with the Netherlands set to face France, Poland, and Austria in the group stage.
